What are the after effects of low levels of blood pressure in human beings?

Low blood pressure can cause symptoms like nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, clammy skin, lack of concentration, fainting. The symptoms usually last only for a short while and resolve on their own. However, there are many ways in which low blood pressure can be prevented. In order to understand how to prevent hypotension, it is essential to understand the reason for the dip in blood pressure. It can be caused due to dehydration, anemia, certain medications, allergic reactions, sudden changes in posture, standing for too long. In order to prevent hypotension due to dehydration, it is essential to drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee since they result in loss of water and salts. If medications like diuretics or beta blockers are causing hypotension, discuss the matter with your doctor. He may be able to prescribe an alternative medication or adjust the dosage of your current medication. Similarly, if you are taking medication for high blood pressure, and miss a dose, never take double the dose to make up for the one you missed. This can lead to low blood pressure. Do not change positions suddenly since the body may not be able to adjust accordingly and there may be a decrease in blood and oxygen supply to the brain, causing low blood pressure.
