Diastolic blood pressure: An explanation

Diastolic blood pressure refers to the measurement of the pressure of the heart against the arterial walls during the state of rest.  Blood pressure is a force exerted by blood on the walls of our blood vessels while it passes through the same. Diastolic blood pressure represents the pressure when the body is resting.
Blood pressure is measured in the form of Systolic / Diastolic. The pressure levels are normally displayed together wherein the diastolic level indicates the endpoint of a cardiac cycle and the heart fills up with blood. There is a difference between systolic and diastolic pressure, which is known as pulse pressure.
As blood pressure usually changes throughout the day, the normal levels of pressure might fluctuate, but it is not a sign of worry. However, if the blood pressure levels rise abnormally higher than normal or becomes abnormal lower than usual, it could be a cause of concern. The normal range of diastolic pressure lies between 60mmHg to 79mmHg.

Diastolic pressure level over 79 mmHg is considered to be a case of hypertension or high blood pressure and lower than the same is known as a condition of low blood pressure.  Neither hypertension nor low blood pressure is good for health. In either of the case, it is important t seek medical help.
