Do females get hypertension or high blood pressure?

High blood pressure is also called as hypertension, is a health problem which affect 13% of women under the age of 44 and 50% of women above the age of 60. Usually high blood pressure in women can cause health complication like stroke, kidney failure or heart disease, so it always good to know about high blood pressure.
High blood pressure in women happens due to certain factor, such as age, birth control pills, menstrual cycle and pregnancy. Women under a certain age may develop high blood pressure but in less frequency than men, this is because of production of estrogen hormones in women. Women after 60 share the same level of risk of high blood pressure like men. During pregnancy, most of the women may experience a type of high blood pressure called gestational hypertension. The blood pressure in women normal increase during menopause period because the levels of estrogen decrease greatly. Women who smoke may experience high blood pressure if they have birth control pills, so it is better to quit smoking before taking birth control pills.

Unluckily, most women get no symptoms of high blood pressure until it gets worse. Some of the symptoms of high blood pressure in women include dull Headaches which mostly take place while waking; Nosebleeds which take place more frequently.
