What is the difference between hypertension and hypotension?

Hypertension is a condition where a person’s systolic and diastolic blood pressure is elevated above the normal recommended levels. On the other hand, hypotension is just the opposite, where there is an unhealthy and abnormal drop in blood pressure levels, which can be as dangerous, or even more harmful than high blood pressure. Those who suffer from hypertension may never know that they have this condition, perhaps until there is organ damage or other side effects. However, in the case of hypotension, it is usually associated with other health conditions and is therefore a condition that is easily diagnosed. The symptoms of hypertension usually are noticed along with other serious health conditions such as a heart attack or a stroke. Therefore, it is called a silent killer. It is not always identified unless something life threatening condition comes up. In the case of hypotension, the symptoms get progressively worse, and due to this a person is forced to seek medical intervention. So, to keep the blood pressure levels normal it is always essential to monitor blood pressure with the assistance of a qualified medical professional.
