High blood pressure and lack of sleep |
Sleep is one of the most important regimes of the entire day. As per the experts, the body conducts the process of self-healing and repairmen at the state of rest in form of sleep. Therefore, a restful sleep lasting from 6 hours to 8 hours is most essential to wade off the risks of diseases, infections and wounds that can otherwise play havoc with the over-all health of the person. Recently, the studies have revealed the connection between lack of sleep or sleeplessness and hypertension. It has been observed after several tests and studies that the person who sleeps for less than the essential 6 hours a day is most prone to high blood pressure. This is majorly because sleep encourages the heart to slow down its functioning. This in turn promotes a remarkable drop in the blood pressure which lasts for the major part of the day. However, those who do not acquire an adequate sleep often observe elevation in their 24-hour blood pressure count with an increased heart beat rate. Gradually, this re-adjusts the cardiovascular system to function at a higher speed and pressure. As a consequence these people record drastic elevations in blood pressure besides the absence of other triggering factors like obesity, and bad eating habits. |
