What is low arterial pressure?

Low arterial pressure is generally termed as hypotension in medical terminology. Hypotension is also not a good indication to the general functioning of a body. It has been seen that hypotension or low arterial pressure is the major culprit responsible for problems like dizziness, fainting and other cases like that in a shock. It has been seen that a low pressure in the arteries could decrease the flow of blood into the brain or the perfusion of brain is seen to decrease.  This condition results in lightheadedness or dizziness. This may also lead to weakness and fainting. Hypotension may be seen from different situations. A person standing up suddenly from a sitting posture may experience dizziness due to orthostatic hypotension. This is an involuntary condition and the body automatically resets to the proper condition within few seconds. Hypotension normally occurs when a person suffers from Sepsis, Hemorrhage or even hormonal abnormalities. Certain toxins entering the body through dosages of blood pressure medicine could be another cause of hypotension. When a person is subjected to shock from hypotension, it could lead to decrease in blood volume to the brain and also decrease in effective pumping rate of the heart thus leading to many other medical problems.
