Ocular Hypertension Causes

The increase in the level of pressure inside eyes is known as ocular hypertension. Increased pressure in eyes can lead to glaucoma that is responsible for damaging the optic nerves and also causes gradual loss of vision. Ocular hypertension is not responsible for damaging eyes and vision. The pressure is increased inside the eyes due to increase in the production of aqueous fluid. Medications that are consumed for treating trauma are also responsible for causing ocular hypertension. Ocular hypertension is becoming one of the major problems that are experienced by people all over the world.

Eye disorders are responsible for causing ocular hypertension since the fluid becomes drained out of the eyes thereby resulting in increasing eye pressure. Family history is also found to be one of the major causes of ocular hypertension. If a person in a family is suffering from problems such as myopia then the chances of other members in the family are also high in developing the symptoms of ocular hypertension. Injury caused to the eye is also considered to be one of the causes of ocular hypertension. People with diabetes are at high risk of developing ocular hypertension. Medications such as corticosteroids are also responsible for developing ocular hypertension.
