Pregnancy induced hypertension treatment

Preeclampsia is the condition of abnormally high blood pressure during pregnancy. The condition is commonly observed among women during their first pregnancy, chronic hypertension, women carrying multiple babies, or those women with prior kidney disorders. The treatment of the condition depends entirely on how close is the expecting mother to her due date. In case the disorder has been detected at later stages when the baby is fully developed, the chances are likely that the doctor recommends to get prepared for the delivery as soon as possible. In case of mild hypertension detected at the early stages of pregnancy, the doctor may advise certain precautionary steps which absolutely need to be followed. Some of such steps include .resting the body on the left side so that the baby’s weight is not exerted on the blood vessels. Consumption of lesser quantities of salt along with an increased intake of water may be another step towards the same. Women may also be recommended bed rest which demands restricted activities through the entire stages of pregnancy. Short term drug therapy may also be gives as the part of the treatment. This may include drugs like Labetalol, Hydralazine, nifedipine, nicardipine.
