Blood pressure facts related to newborn babies

The heart pumps blood and supplies it to other organs via the blood vessels and the pressure exerted by the blood against the blood vessels is called as blood pressure and it varies among the newborn
The normal systolic blood pressure of an infant that is the force with which the blood is released during contraction ranges between 70 and 90 and the normal diastolic blood pressure which is the level of pressure in the arterial walls during relaxation of the heart range between 110 and 130.
The normal range of the blood pressure depends on many factors including the age after the birth, state that is whether the baby is awake or sleeps, gender, weight and health condition of the baby.  The normal blood pressure often changes in the newborn babies.

Physician generally compares the blood pressure of the baby with the national normal ranges and in that if blood pressure exceeds 95th percentile for its age, gender and weight, then the baby is declared to have high blood pressure. The diagnosis as high blood pressure is commonly not seen with the new born babies unless there is defect in either kidney or heart functioning or it can be due to premature birth.
