How to prevent hypotension?

The steps that can be taken to prevent hypotension depend primarily upon the reason for this condition. However, symptoms can be reduced or even prevented by implementing a few suggestions that cover all types of hypotension. To begin with, lot of water needs to be drunk and less alcohol should be consumed. Alcohol acts as an agent to reduce blood pressure. On the other hand, water increases blood volume and thereby increases blood pressure. A healthy diet consisting of vegetables, fruits, lean chicken, fish and whole grains goes a long way to preventing hypotension. Apart from this, caffeine might, at times, serve to increase blood pressure to a large extent. However, considering the fact that it can cause other complications in certain people, a doctor’s advice is necessary before increasing caffeine intake. Having an Epsom salt bath just before retiring to bed is great way to prevent hypotension. Also of good use is the vegetable beetroot, which causes noticeable improvements. Hypotension can also be prevented by increasing the intake of salt and keeping it in moderation. This is, in fact, the most effective means of preventing hypotension since blood pressure is largely controlled by fluid volume and sodium levels in the body. Regular monitoring of blood pressure also helps recognize trends as to when it seems to drop, and hypotension can be thereby prevented.
