Can hypertension cause problems in eyesight?

It is a known fact that high blood pressure occurs because of the narrowing down of the arteries that carries blood to different parts of the body. Hypertension also brings forth many changes in the blood vessels and it is also affects the blood vessels of the eye and hence the proper supplies of the blood to the eyes are hampered. 
High blood pressure severely damages the blood vessels of the retina and also the other parts of the eyes especially the regions at the back of the eye where the image focuses which is called as hypertensive retinopathy which is accompanied by the head ache and the problems associated with the sight.  
Constrictions, oozing of fluid from the blood vessels, cotton wool spots on the retina, swelling of the macula and optic nerve and bleeding are commonly seen in the eyes of patients with hypertensive retinopathy. The problem of hypertensive retinopathy is mostly develops without any visible symptoms and it may cause partial to complete loss of vision.  

Preeclampsia, a disorder seen in the pregnant women with high blood pressure where the baby’s health is greatly affected and sometimes, it may even causes the death of the baby and the mother.
