Pulse Pressure: What is it all about?

When blood pressure is recorded there are 2 numbers that can be seen. The blood pressure level appears in numeric form and the normal reading s 120/80 mmHg. While 120 is the systolic pressure, 80 happen to be the diastolic reading. When the heart exerts maximum pressure while beating, it is the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic pressure referred to the amount of pressure in the arteries between the beats. There is a numeric difference between the systolic and the diastolic pressure, which is known as the pulse pressure.
Research reveals that increased levels of pulse pressure can pose to be a great threat for people with heart problems it is also an indication of probable heart problems, particularly in the elderly. In general, a pulse pressure that is higher than 60 mmHg is believed to be much higher than normal.

Pulse pressure is usually elevated due t the stiffness as well as reduced elasticity of aorta, which is the largest artery present in our body.  There could be various causes of this condition, of which high blood pressure is a primary cause, followed by other conditions like atherosclerosis (presence of fatty deposits on the arterial walls). The more the pulse pressure, the stiffer your blood vessels become. There could be many other causes of elevated pulse pressure, such as thyroid, severe anemia.
