Home test for blood pressure

Both manual and electrical devices can be used to measure blood pressure level at home. In case of manual devices, you need to listen to heart beat to measure blood pressure. Electronic devices make this job even easier as they listen to it for you. While purchasing devices for home measurement of blood pressure, paying proper attention to accuracy is imperative. Cuff of these devices need to fit your arm perfectly. Small and large cuffs might yield wrong results related blood pressure. Recently, American Heart Association has found that wrist monitors are vulnerable towards wrong measurement. Hence, wrist monitors for home measurement of blood pressure should be used only if you are unable to wear the cuff at arms due to physical challenge.  While measuring blood pressure, make sure that you have not eaten anything or smoked at least 30 minutes before the test. Similarly, exercising and consumption of medicines that might trigger blood pressure level needs to be avoided. Sitting posture is also crucial to determine blood pressure in an accurate manner. While using electronic devices to measure blood pressure, you need to wait till heart" symbol appears at the display window. Then only, you need to press the start button and inflate the cuff. After few seconds, deflation of the cuff will start and exact blood pressure will be displayed at the monitor.
